Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Oliver

Mary Elizabeth (Libby) Oliver, 93, died Monday, January 9, 2012 at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, In.

Libby was born in Indianapolis, In. on April 10th, 1918, to the late Roy D. and Birdie (McGill) Merideth.

She was married August 21, 1938 to Paul Leo Oliver, who preceded her in death on March 22, 1981. She was also preceded in death by a brother, David Merideth, a grandson, Justin Oliver, and daughter-in-law, Marcia Danford Oliver.

Her surviving family includes 6 children, Lu Ann Hill of Prospect, Ky., Barb Rimstidt (husband Ivan) of Madison, In., Sue Zoppa (husband Carlo) of LaGrange, Il., Bob Oliver (wife Julie) of Franklin, In., Jerry Oliver (wife Janet) of Monticello, In., Larry Oliver (wife Linda) of St. Thomas, VI.; and a sister, Joyce Metzger of Montgomery, Al. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Libby graduated from Arsenal Technical High School majoring in music. She played the violin, organ and piano. She worked as a secretary for Lafayette Life Insurance Company, a dental receptionist for Dr. James Bailey, and was a housemother for many years on the Purdue campus.

Most recently she was a resident at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, In.

Libby enjoyed Purdue sports, golf, and playing cards.

Funeral Information

Graveside services will be Saturday, January 14th at Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens, West Lafayette, In. at 1:00 pm.
