Geraldine M. (Jerry) Hershberger
August 14, 1923 - February 20, 2012
Geraldine M. "Jerry" Hershberger, 88, of Logansport, passed away at 9:40 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 in Chase Convalescent Center.
Born August 14, 1923 in Royal Center, she was the daughter of the late William Ray "Scout" and Edith Floyd Taylor. On November 17, 1946, in Logansport, she was married to Martin B. Hershberger, who preceded her in death July 19, 2007.
Jerry was the 1942 Valedictorian of Royal Center High School. After high school, she worked at R.B.M. and later, she was employed at Switches. For over 50 years, Jerry worked as a babysitter in her home. She loved children and they loved her dearly.
Jerry enjoyed crocheting . She had crocheted 149 afghans for family and friends. Many of her afghans have gone around the world. She enjoyed her Sunday programs, especially the Gaither Family singers. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed time spent with them. Jerry never met a stranger. Her smile could light up a room.
Surviving are one son, Phil M. Hershberger and his wife Pam, of West Lafayette; two daughters, Lynn M. Sharp and her husband John, of Kokomo, and Nancy J. Hinkle and her husband Fred, of Logansport; one sister, Barbara Rafferty Million, of Monticello; five grandchildren, Kristin Kaselonis and her husband Scott, of Westfield, Derek Hershberger of Crawfordsville, Angela Santiago and her husband Marco, of Chula Vist, CA, Andrea Kirkpatrick and her husband Kevin, of Hebron, CT, Ashley McCauley and her husband Dan. of Valparaiso; eight great-grandchildren; a special niece who was like a daughter to Jerry, Lana Gibson and her husband, Kenny, of Royal Center; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six sisters, Irene Wilson, Katheryn Vernon, Helen Pearson, Emma Jones, Lucille Schmidt and Wilma "Bill" Hoffman; and two brothers, John Taylor and Donald "Orrie" Taylor.
Funeral Information
Private services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery with Pastor Paul Scott officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
